With almost 20 years of experience we have worked with every type of family and are quick to adapt and react to capture emotions and moments quickly. Our experience with weddings has trained us well to always be watching for those little unique fleeting moments. We love to use the beauty of natural light and the beautiful location in Maine to create stunning family photos.

In addition to candid photos and moments together of your family we also capture some group photos as well if you would like them (and variations of groups)!

We're locally based in Midcoast Maine and offer natural light family and maternity photo sessions that are relaxed, fun, and centered around what makes your family special. Local or traveling to the coast, we create classic portraits in beautiful settings like Camden, Damariscotta, and Boothbay Harbor — from sunny beaches to quiet woodland trails.

What to Expect From Your Maine Family Photo Session

We keep sessions relaxed and fun — think more storytelling, less stiff posing. Kids can be themselves, parents can relax, and we’ll guide you through it all. Sessions typically last around an hour and are generally scheduled around golden hour (before sunset) whenever possible for the most beautiful light. We do capture group photos as well!

You’ll receive a gallery of edited, high-resolution images you can download, share, and print — perfect for holiday cards, prints as gifts or an album.

I booked a mother-daughter session with Jess as a birthday present for my Mom. We did the shoot in late fall in Indiana and it out to be a cold, but sunny day. We had SO much fun with the whole process – from picking our outfits, to getting ready, to having fun with Jess during the session, and dinner afterwards. I’ve worked with Jess before and I cannot recommend her enough. She has such a signature, beautiful style  that’s all her own and she’s so easy to get along with. You feel 1,000% comfortable with her.

My mom was so surprised by the gift and we have the photos to cherish forever. I highly recommend doing pictures like this with your parents. Forget about waiting until one of you loses weight or whatever silly excuse you have. Take the photos – you won’t regret it!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • We will typically try to schedule a rain date for every client just in case. We do stay in contact a few days before and can work around the weather if need be and maybe move the time around if possible to work around the rain. Overcast days can also be beautiful!

  • Of course! There are some areas though (certain beaches and parks) where dogs are not allowed or there are leash laws, so we just need to look into the rules before we meet up!

  • We generally like to do all photo sessions at golden hour to take advantage of the most beautiful light, so an hour or so before the sun sets. The light can also be nice in the very early mornings too. This will depend on some variables though like the location. We also know this is not always possible with young children so we can discuss times when you book! Lighting does affect the photos and plays a big part in our work so we really try to find the best time to utilize it!

  • Any season! Spring is beautiful when all of the flowers are opening up, summer is great because the days are longer and the weather is warmer so perfect for beach days! Fall is our favorite time of year with the golden light in the late afternoon and the changing leaf colors and warm color palette in Maine. But winter can also be really cool for photos if you’re willing to brave the temperatures! And if an outside photo shoot won’t work we also do in home sessions any time!

  • I always encourage families to wear complimentary colors without being too matchy. Sometimes patterns that are too crazy don’t photograph really well either. But otherwise you should wear clothing that is comfortable and makes you feel great! I also have a style board that I can send you in advance that has tons of inspiration! Your clothing also can reflect the location that we choose. You can also send me photos so I can help you with styling, I love working with clients on this!

  • We require a 50% deposit to book a date and cannot hold one without due to demand for our services. The balance is due 24 hours before your session. We send invoices online for easy payments and accept debit, credit or ACH payments.

  • Definitely! We offer gift cards so please contact us to purchase! A family session makes a wonderful gift for a friend or family member!
